On Monday, Aug 24th, the Federalsburg Volunteers' Weekly Duty Crew continued and began with crews completing the weekly apparatus checks on Tanker106, Brush110, and Chief1. These checks ensure that the apparatus is operationally prepared to respond to any emergency calls for service.

    After the apparatus checks were complete, the personnel enjoyed a homemade meal and engaged in some general fire service conversation involving previous calls and lessons learned. This time of camaraderie helps to build a sense of loyalty and trust among the crews, which they will fall back on during emergency responses.

    After dinner, it is time to get some training in. This week the focus was Ladder Company operations. One of our apparatus drivers in-training completed his Tower Ladder checks-offs which clears him to be an Emergency Vehicle Operator - Chauffeur. During the check-off session, the firefighters took the opportunity to ascend the aerial ladder to a building's roof to participate in some discussion regarding rooftop operations. When this was completed, personnel put in some time placing ground ladders to ensure their proficiency for when the time arises and will require this task to be completed in rapid fashion.

    Just another week of our crews preparing themselves for whatever emergency may confront them and ensuring that our community can count on us to be there in their time of need any hour of the day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
